Donations
This year we have given money to:
CROP Walk $150.00 Crop is an interdenominational organization working on world hunger issues www.churchworldservice.org
UUSC Unitarian Universalists Service Committee $200.00 which was a matching grant so it is matched dollar for dollar. This year the UUSC is focusing on defending the human right to water, protecting the rights of child workers, defending civil liberties, defending rights in humanitarian crises www.uusc.org
UUUN Unitarian Universalists United Nations Fund $100.00 This fund works with the United Nations in promoting global issues. www.uu-uno.org
FINCA $400.00 FINCA is a mico loan program for people worldwide www.villagebanking.org. We chose this mico loan progam because at least 86 cents out of every dollar donated goes directly to village banking activities in the field. They have a good rating and little overhead.
Winona Catholic Worker Homes 200.00 The Catholic Worker runs two homes for homeless people in Winona. We also support them by the youth group and two members of this committee cooking meals for them.
Our book sale raised $603.00 this year, which we split between two families in need from the August flood. We worked with Catholic Charities to help us find these families. We also gave each family a $25 gift certificate to Midtown for Christmas.
We collected food and money for the food shelf at Winona Volunteer Services the first two Sundays in December
