Mission

The mission of our Religious Education Program corresponds with that of the fellowship as a whole.

We strive to create a vibrant, nurturing community for our children and youth
* By fostering trust
* Welcoming and celebrating diversity
* Encouraging a free exchange of ideas
* Celebrating spiritual growth by introducing them to the world of religious wisdom that has been passed down over the generations
* And by inspiring compassionate action in them so that they may make the world a better place.

Religious Education Classes

Preschool Children: We provide child care for the youngest of our members. They have toys and stories with child care provider.

Elementary Children (Kindergarten to 4th grade): A member of our fellowship has developed a curriculum based on the Seven UU Principles for these boys and girls.

* We believe that each and every person is important.

* We believe that all people should be treated fairly and kindly.

* We believe that we should accept one another and keep on learning together.

* We believe that each person must be free to search for what is true and right in life.

* We believe that all persons should have a vote about the things that concern them.

* We believe in working for peaceful, fair, and free world.

* We believe in caring for our planet earth, the home we share with all living things.

Middle School Children (5th through 8th): These girls and boys spend three church years exploring Judeo-Christian scripture and learn how these relate to Unitarian Universalism.

High School Youth: These young people participate in the Adult Sunday Service.

UU Youth Group: Our middle and high school students have a lively youth group that participates in social action activities such as preparing food for the Catholic Worker House and Habitat for Humanity of Winona.

RE Program

UUFW employees a Religious Education Coordinator to recruit and assist volunteer teachers with the lessons.

Our Sunday Services always include all the children in the opening segment of the service. We also include the children in the opening and closing services of the year and in certain other special services during the year such as the Flower Communion, Thanksgiving celebration and Spirit of Christmas service.
